AI search, AEO and GEO

When someone asks AI for a business like yours, are you the answer?

More customers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Google’s AI Overviews instead of scrolling a list. These assistants read the same handful of sources. If yours are wrong, thin or missing, you are invisible to them.

Where do AI assistants get local business information?

It varies by assistant and changes over time, but for local questions these are the sources that come up again and again.

Google Business Profile

Feeds Google Maps, Search and AI Overviews, and is widely quoted elsewhere.

Bing Places

Bing data sits behind Microsoft Copilot and is used by other assistants that search the web.

Apple Business Connect

Powers Apple Maps and Siri answers on iPhones.

Foursquare

A location database licensed by many apps and services.

Review sites

Google reviews first, plus the sites that matter in your trade.

Your website

Clear facts: what you do, where, hours, prices if you publish them, and FAQs.

What we actually do

  1. 1

    Ask

We ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity and Google the questions your customers ask, from a clean session in your area, and record who gets named.

  2. 2

    Fix

We correct and complete the sources those answers come from, as part of Get Found.

  3. 3

    Make you quotable

We write a short facts block and FAQs for your website so assistants describe you accurately.

  4. 4

    Track

On Care, we rerun the same questions every month and show you the trend, good or bad.

AI search work is included in Get Found (£299). Monthly tracking is part of Care (£39 a month).

AI search questions, answered honestly

How do AI assistants decide which local business to recommend?

They search the web and the big map and listing databases, then summarise what they find. For local questions that usually means Google Business Profile data, Bing Places, Apple Maps, Foursquare, review sites, and the business’s own website. Businesses with complete, consistent listings and plenty of recent reviews are easier for them to find and safer for them to name.

Is AEO or GEO different from normal local SEO?

Mostly no. The same signals that help you on Google Maps help with AI answers. The differences are that Bing and Apple matter more than people expect, and clear, quotable facts on your website help assistants describe you accurately.

Does llms.txt or schema markup get me into ChatGPT?

Not on its own. Schema markup is good hygiene and helps search engines understand your facts. llms.txt has no confirmed role in how the major assistants pick local businesses. We add both where it makes sense, but we never sell them as the answer.

Can you guarantee ChatGPT will mention me?

No. Nobody controls what an AI assistant says, and answers change from day to day. We fix the sources they read, measure how often you are mentioned for real customer questions, and report it monthly if you are on Care.
